Providence to Host Forum for Women Caregivers on Sept. 7

Providence Women's Wellness Series presents "When is it Time to Take Charge? Women and Caregiving," a free women's health forum.
The forum will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, Souther Auditorium, 9205 S.W. Barnes Road. The forums will be repeated from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Providence Portland Medical Center Amphitheatre, 4805 N.E. Glisan St.; and from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 14, at Providence Milwaukie Hospital, Mother Gamelin Room, 10150 S.E. 32nd Ave. in Milwaukie.
Women spend much of their lives nurturing others: raising children, caring for friends and family. Caregiving takes on a whole new, and much more complicated, perspective when the one who needs care is an aging parent or spouse.
Jenell Neufeld, LCSW, social services expert for Providence Center on Aging, will discuss caregiving in the third set of lectures in the 2006 Providence Women's Wellness Series. This free presentation will cover:
• Red flags that indicate when to "take charge";
• How to cope with caregiving — juggling guilt and obligation;
• Key community resources available for caregivers; and
• Tips every woman can use.
