Young community activist Adonis "AJ" Douglas Walker, 9, left, helps Asa and Jermain Atherton, right, both of P.O. Soul Entertainment, clean-up a section of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Killingsworth Street on April 28. The scheduled clean-up event, sponsored by the North/Northeast Business Association, with the support of the PDC, Friends of Trees, SOLV, and MLK organizations and businesses, is an annual community event. While cleaning his section of the busy Portland boulevard, 9-year-old Walker counted cigarette butts and commented, "I picked up 135 cigarette butts and I feel pretty good about that. But, as far as smoking goes, there are two options – either don't smoke at all or put them in the trash!"
