Artist Leback Displays Watercolor, Opaque Oil Paintings

VANCOUVER, Wash. – A collection of watercolor and opaque oil paintings by Karen Leback are on display in the Engineering and Life Sciences building at Washington State University Vancouver through Sept. 7.
Leback is known locally through many art shows, and her accomplishments include "Best of Show" awards at local events since 1999. This year her painting "Kelly's Lemon Bowl" was chosen for the Northwest Washington National Show.
Most of her work is inspired by loose and colorful styles, and images with different shapes and patterns. Other inspirations come from her everyday life on the farm she owns with her husband. She is currently working on new portraits that use different paper surfaces such as gold gesso, and mixing watercolors with more opaque media.
Entry to campus exhibits is free. WSU Vancouver galleries are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
