Rally Against Racist Violence Planned for Tuesday in Olympia

A rally will be held at 4pm Tuesday in Olympia to demand justice and call on elected officials to pass policies that tackle systemic racist violence. 

Organizers say the recent police killings of black people, including George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery, highlight the existence of police violence as it affects all Black people in this country. 

"This moment is a reminder of what we’ve been urging electeds to take action on," the group says in a press release.

"We need them to undo the racist structures that government institutions have long protected at the expense of our communities.

"Rally-goers are honoring the loved ones who have been lost and calling on governments to prioritize the need of community by passing policies that enact restorative justice, protect renters, create affordable housing, end mass incarceration, expand worker protections/employment, and expand health care." 

Everyone who attends is aksed to respect social distancing by wearing masks, using hand sanitizer and standing six feet apart.
