League Boosts Leadership Development

The Seattle Urban League Young Professionals organization has again received a strong response for the upcoming 3rd Annual Leadership Development Summit aimed at empowering Seattle's future leaders.
Organizers say the event is geared towards young professionals of color who are interested in personal and professional development but may be unsure where to obtain information. The forum allows networking opportunities with like-minded and seasoned professionals. Microsoft Corporation is sponsoring this annual summit, "From the Ground Up: Building a Bridge to Success," that will bring professionals between the ages of 21 and 40 together with seasoned senior managers of corporations, small business owners, vice presidents of universities, icons in local communities and a national motivational speaker to talk about current issues, advantages and tips. Professionals will also answer questions to help attendees understand what they can do now to prepare to get ahead, make their money work for them and also give back to their local community.
"As an extension of the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle, our goals include encouraging economic empowerment and civic engagement for young professionals and this signature program is scheduled to assist in those goals again this year", said organization President Felicia Kline.
The summit will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 7 in Redmond, Wash.
There is no cost for the event, but pre-registration is required, as space is limited. Attendees will experience a continental breakfast, a small business fair, a networking lunch and hear from successful individuals within their fields of study during the two panels and lunch.
